Its a Wrap!
2010 is on the way out and what a year it has been. As I write this, I am looking out at mounds of snow in wintery Winnipeg, or Winterpeg as we fondly call it...seems I always return when theres snow and its colder than Mars. A birth in the family inspired this little jaunt home and I am blessed to be able to celebrate the joy of new baby Julia with her mom and dad.
Looking back on year five I recall some fabulous moments of triumph such as Donna Bellevilles brilliant directorial vision in our production of The Beauty Queen of Leenane and working with such an incredible cast, as well as the resounding success with year two of Young Company and our production of To Kill a Mockingbird which broke all box office records!
There were a few hurdles along the way, such as the moment when Rics heart decided to attack him and we were challenged with, among other things, reprogramming our season. I am thrilled to say that Ric is in better health than ever before, and the opportunity to act with my extremely talented husband was more than a simple blessing in disguise.
Lyndesfarnes educational and outreach programming inspired children and youth and the renewal of our after school programs, as well as the highly successful Downtown Drama Drop In with The RAFT which is now in week 14 of 40 and is set to conclude next June of 2011.
Our latest success with the Canadian Premiere of Steven Berkoffs Shakespeares Villains, and the exciting news about producing St. Catharines International Busker Fest for August 2011 are more than we hoped for. A very big thank you to Mayor McMullan and Economic Development and Tourism, and our City Council for its support in our vision and believing that we will bring something very special to downtown St. Catharines next August!
I look forward to our next year with very high hopes for success, and with the support of you, our patrons, volunteers and donors, this little company will work its magic to bring some of the best theatre we have to offer to the Niagara Region.
Hope we see you once again in our seats!
